Staten Island Highlights - Historic Richmond Town
Historic Richmond Town located in the Richmond neighborhood of Staten Island is one of the most unique spots on the Island and great for family outings on the weekend. Inspired by Colonial Williamsburg in Virginia, Historic Richmond Town consists of over 30 historic buildings dating from the late 17th to the early 20th century including The Voorlezer's House dating to 1695 which is the oldest exhibit as well as the oldest standing elementary school in the United States. Visitors can enjoy guided tours of various homes and shops in the atmosphere of a living history museum. All buildings are restored to specific periods of interpretation and staff dresses in period correct clothing for demonstrations of historic trades, crafts, and everyday household activities. Yearly public events include the Richmond County Fair, Tavern Concerts, Pumpkin Picking at the Decker Farm and many more.
